a bit about me
I have been an Educational Psychologist since 1997
Before that I worked as a teacher for 18 years, mainly in special schools
I am qualified, insured, HCPC registered and I have enhanced DBS clearance, I am a member of the Association of Educational Psychologists
I work as an independent EP. I am also registered with Psychology Today
the work I do
I do face-to-face work with the child, preferrably in their school, home or work setting
If necessary I use standardized academic and intelligence tests to assess the client's skills. This also gives me the opportunity to get to know the client
I then write psychological reports that can be used to improve special educational needs support arrangements for the client
I specialize in dyslexia, dyscalculia, general learning difficulties and identifying neuro-divergent learning styles. I give advice on school placement
Some parents want the confirmation of an IQ test, which describes their child's learning strengths and weaknesses; and some parents just want to know that their child is doing OK in school

I write books
I have published a set of workbooks aimed at children with exceptionally weak number skills and/or discalculia. The books rely on precision teaching and overlearning and the spatial visualization of number. The books can be photocopied for use in group teaching situations. As an EP I developed a group work model designed to gather peer support to help vulnerable children in school. At the moment this model is available to schools and EPs free of charge. I am willing to demonstrate the model if schools can arrange a volunteer group
